Dear Me

Dear Me,

You are beautiful. You need to stop being so concerned about how you look. You are afraid of stepping out of the house with spectacles on, without eye linear or without your colored lenses. Dressing up is like your social barrier, a delusion you created to look better than who you originally are. Do you really need to keep those guards that high? You need to stop looking at the ground, avoiding glances of others because you feel so insecure about yourself. Chin up and smile!

You are self-conscious. You are constantly afraid of what others might think of you, you often sink into the background because you feel that you are not "pretty" or "smart" enough. You are quiet in social situations because you struggle to get your point across. You often feel that your comments and inputs are useless and superficial. Yes, you might not be as knowledgeable as others but take it as an opportunity to learn. Don't just sink into your small corner and be oblivious and uninterested about what is going on. Don't dwell over all those blunders you made, take it as a lesson and not make them again.

You feel inadequate. You put yourself on comparison with others, with your peers, with the people you see on social media, every single damn day, every single minute and second. You see the good in them and used it as a way to reflect your flaws. You view yourself as worthless in contrast to people around. You just don't feel good enough. However, if you were to constantly compare your self worth with that of others, it will never be a winning game. Instead, you should be comparing who you are today to who you are yesterday. If you are better than who your younger self then you are improving and taking steps towards being a better you.

You are sensitive. Don't let words of others bring you down. You need to filter out comments that are worth remembering and not let negative ones affect you. Stop replaying those hurtful words in your mind, don't let others define who you are. Don't ever ever ever let anyone dull your sparkle!

My dear, just remember, you are not what you tell yourself late at night nor when you compare yourself with others. You see, the problem with you is that you let your insecurities eat you up. You fail to see the beauty in yourself, as yourself. You need to accept and love yourself. In case, you've forgotten, you have a lovely smile, a kind heart, a radiating and warm deposition that allows you to connect easily with others. You are a giver of good vibes, you bring joy to people around. You're such a blessing to people around but why can't you see how you are a blessing to yourself too.

You were the happiest when you are overseas, waking up everyday excited for new adventures. However, why did you lose all of that enthusiasm when you are back at home? Don't let days past. Get out and find gems around. Keep your curiosity and adventurous spirit burning. Make time out for your passion, for moments that your soul crave. Draw, sing, bake; make time for them.

Love yourself and be happy, pretty. It will get better but first, love yourself, get up and start fighting.
